Physical Education
Our aim is for all pupils to leave Moulsecoomb Primary physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and life- long participation in physical activity and sports.
P.E pro is a high-quality physical education curriculum which inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness.
At Moulsecoomb Primary, we are committed to inclusion in all its aspects and ensure that all children, regardless of ability, race, gender, culture or SEND, are given appropriate opportunities to access the curriculum. In order to achieve this, we provide a differentiated curriculum and, where possible, additional support.
Swimming
In KS2 Year 5 will have swimming lessons throughout the Autumn and Spring term. They will also have lessons during the first half of the Summer term. After this Year 6 will have top up lessons for the rest of the Summer Term.
These will focus on teaching children to:
Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
Use a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke].
Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
